there are more honest people in NYC than one might think.

i am really looking forward to st. patrick’s day this year!  my mom (Joan Elizabeth O’Reilly) will be joining me in NYC for the special day of fun!  it will be my first time going all out in NYC on st. paddy’s.  i know- it is a little hard to believe.  mary catherine hasn’t ever really done the typical celebration.

st. patrick’s day has always been such an important holiday (equivalent to christmas) in my family that we all get together and just celebrate… not too much bar-hopping or green beer involved.  my mom always turned the milk green and sprinkled green confetti everywhere and told us a leprechaun visited in the wee hours of the day…

this year we are going to be decked out in green apparel and accessories and attend the annual st. patrick’s day parade on fifth avenue and then pub-hop to listen to celtic music and enjoy the day.  my mom will also be making my friends and i corned beef and cabbage (YAAAY!).

my girlfriends and i are going to make t-shirts this weekend for the special day…

mine will read “PATRICK WAS A SAINT- I AIN’T!”

mom’s will read “OH REALLY?! NO-O’REILLY”

yay!

its called “chastity”.

how fun would it be to be a nail polish color name-r (?) for a living?!

i figured since valentine’s day is this week, i would do something a little different.

my nails are pepto-pink. not kidding. barbie pink.  almost cartoonish. maybe that’s why its called “chastity”…  not the sexiest color, but fun and very “me” none-the-less.

enough about my nail color…

i’m happy.  :)

i didn’t really have a whole lot to write about (OBVIOUSLY), but here are a couple pictures Bill took of me yesterday.

Wow-  Time flies when you’re havin’ fun, right?!

No complaints about life here!

Well… Aside from the fact that the lower half of the right side of my body is giving me hell…  Dumb sciatica.

I’m still loving my apartment, working a lot.  I am definitely not making as many YouTube clips as I would like to, but I just need more time.  I always have my handy dandy Flip just in case something fun spontaneously comes up worth documenting.

A couple weeks ago I was asked to assist in the NYC open casting call for “I Survived a Japanese Game Show” Season 2- It was a blast!  Quite different than being the person considered.  I got to help out and sit in on interviews.  Too funny!

I shot a commercial for National Floors Direct (a company based out of the Northeast) in Boston yesterday…  Took the train up in the morning and came right back to the city at night.  Got to ride Business Class- I felt fancy.  :)

It’s on my mind, so I have to talk about it…  ‘ve been meeting some awesome people randomly lately.  I feel like as I get more and more back to myself I’m meeting new people that have similar interests, beliefs and passions.  I would say its just because I am in New York (how could I not meet numerous independant eccentrics-they’re everywhere!) but in the past it’s been less frequent than one might imagine!

Yay life.

so i guess i am not very good at keeping up with the blogs…  one of my resolutions is to get on here more.

another big one for me is getting in really good shape.  i know i am thin, yadda yadda, but i want to be able to run longer distance and gain more strength and flexibility.  when i turn 25 i don’t want to do what most people do and freak out…  i want to welcome it and feel the best i’ve ever felt about myself.

a lot happened in 2008.  i went from thinking i was going to make the move from new york to los angeles and ended up realizing i wanted to make new york home for at least a few more years,  finally got out of the united states and went to japan, was on a crazy game show, booked some good commercials, met a lot of new friends, made new memories with my old friends…

of course, there were those harder times, too.  boy, was ‘08 hard on a lot of us!

needless to say, i got to know myself a lot better in 2008.  i look forward to what is ahead and i hope you feel the same about your life…

The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own. No apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on, or blame. The gift is yours – it is an amazing journey – and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.

joni mitchell’s blue album is one of my favorites in general, but especially when its cold outside…

I also grew up listening to Mannheim Steamroller during the holiday season… My roomies think its hilarious I still listen to it when I am just hanging around the apartment…. :D

know what that means?  i am no longer in my “early twenties”…

i had a wonderful birthday.  i ran errands all day, went to an audition, had dinner with a couple girlfriends, then had a great little gathering at my apartment.  it was perfect!  it was a night of a lot of laughing, awesome conversation, and, of course, little dance breaks.  :)

thank you to EVERYONE for making me feel so special!  i am amazed at how many facebook, myspace and website comments filled with birthday wishes i got.  my phone didn’t seem to want to stop ringing, either!  what a great feeling.  i am so insanely loved!

i have definitely taken it easy all day today.  in fact, i never once left my apartment!  i just showered, caught up on some t.v. i’d missed recently, and cleaned my apartment.

mellow mary. <3

good night.

p.s.- it is officially winter outside in nyc. freeeeeeeeezing.
